Thought that the Windows Blue Screen of Death had finally been banished to the great software pile in the sky.
But no the new redraw gives a blue screen for some 3-4 seconds. Not sure I like it. I agree its all smoother but prefer the wait plus instant redraw that we used to have. Also the lack of a proper cache seems to mean that when you zoom any new bit of map is blue until screen refreshes properly.
Like the smoother scrolling but the blank blue is a significant price to pay for this.
How do others react?

I'm afraid this isn't really up for debate. We currently have no way of drawing the "old" map rotated while the new map is drawn. This only affects situations where the map is being rotated, obviously, and drawing in the background is fundamental to the new mapping engine.
We'll improve this if and when we can. This won't be made any faster by posts on here.
